Mission Statement

THE CHICAGO CHAPTER SUPPORTS THIS MISSION AND, STRIVES SPECIFICALLY TO EDUCATE AND MOTIVATE COMMUNITIES OF COLOR TO DESTIGMATIZE AND ACCEPT THE CANNABIS PLANT AS A VEHICLE FOR HEALTH & WELLNESS, POLITICAL, AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.

Chicago NORML Goals

RECOGNIZING THAT ALTHOUGH THE CANNABIS CULTURE WAS A LARGE PART OF DAILY LIFE IN OUR COMMUNITIES BUT THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY WAS NOT, WE TOOK MATTERS INTO OUR OWN HANDS. OUR WORK IS BASED ON 4 BASIC PILLARS.

ADVOCACY

Our members are engaged with community leaders and fight for opportunities for the safe access to legal cannabis.

SOCIAL JUSTICE

Our members are abreast of local & federal measures and pending bills.  We connect directly with lawmakers and are helping to shape discussions about cannabis rights.

INDUSTRY & CULTURE

Our members are immersed in and make strong connections in both the business and health & wellness communities.

CANNABIS EDUCATION

Our members routinely host formal and informal education sessions for patients, job seekers, and entrepreneurs in the communities where there is a need.

Marijuana has been used to disproportionately harm People of Color for decades through the War on Drugs and similar anti-working class programs. Chicago NORML is actively working to reverse the harm this malpractice has done in our communities.

Chicago NORML believes in empowering our communities through a fierce yet methodical approach and positively changing the culture of perception surrounding the legalization of Marijuana.

Chicago NORML believes in developing occupational standards, quality learning, and professional development for diverse groups.
