NATIONAL CANNABIS NEWS

Marijuana consumption lounges approved for Las Vegas
“The businesses will allow marijuana customers to smoke the drug legally for the first time outside of private homes since voters legalized recreational use in 2016. This left out the 40 million or so yearly tourists without a place to legally smoke, having them to resort to doing so illegally in the street, parking garages or hotel rooms, officials have stressed.”

Medical Pot in Utah Costs Right Around National Average
““We were asked when working with the policy analysts to compare apples to apples, but with all of the different nuances in the different states, it really is a difficult task,” said Alyssa Smailes with Utah Cannabis Association, as quoted by KUER, who along with Utah Cannabis Co-Op “selected 19 states with various cannabis markets in different stages of progress to compare with Utah.””

New changes improve the lives of Louisiana’s medical marijuana patients
“On Aug. 1, 2022, new changes to Louisiana’s medical marijuana laws took effect. More Than 400 Pounds of Weed Seized by Border Control (and Dog) in Cincinnati
“On the outside, they looked like dehumidifiers. A look inside the appliances revealed more than a million bucks worth of contraband. That was the haul intercepted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers––and their trusty narcotics detector dog, Bruno––in Cincinnati over the weekend.”

A Look at Wayne State University’s Veteran Cannabis Studies
“The mental health of veterans was not lost on Michigan voters when they legalized adult-use cannabis via Proposal 1 in 2018. That initiative requires the state to provide $20 million annually “until 2022 or for at least two years” for clinical trials evaluating cannabis’ efficacy in treating U.S. veterans’ medical conditions and preventing veteran suicide.”

Idaho Halts Sale of CBD Pet Supplements
“Idaho law does not recognize hemp as a feed or remedy ingredient. Safe levels of hemp and hemp-derived products in animal feed have not yet been established under federal or state law. As such, these products are not approved feed ingredients and cannot lawfully be added to or incorporated into commercial feed. This includes feeds, treats and remedies intended for pets, livestock, or any other animal,” the department said.”
